expert opinion on the machinery that crushed him

In the early afternoon of today 9 May, at the Stellantis plant in Pratola Serra, in the province of Avellino, an appraisal will be held on the machinery involved in the fatal accident of 22 February, in which the 52-year-old worker Domenico Fatigati lost his life. Our colleagues at AvellinoToday report it.

The investigation, which will begin at 3 pm, will be conducted by engineer Giuseppe Coccia, technical consultant appointed by prosecutor Lorenza Recano, deputy prosecutor of Avellino. The consultants and lawyers appointed by the company managers and the technical consultant of the victim’s family, originally from Acerra, who worked for an external company in Foggia, will also be present.

The report was ordered to determine whether the fatal accident was caused by the carelessness and imprudence of the worker or whether the responsibilities derive from problems linked to defects in the machinery, the lack of surveillance measures established by law or the lack of training.

“Together with our consultant we will be present at the scheduled surveys on the Stellantis machine that took the life of poor Domenico”, says Luigi Ferrandino, lawyer for the victim’s family. “Such modern companies should have machinery with protection systems that make accidents impossible even if operated by a child. In my opinion, the responsibility of Stellantis is not in question, but we will be present to understand every detail of the terrible affair to support the thesis of the offended parties who will appear as civil parties at the trial”, concluded the Fatigati family’s lawyer”concludes the lawyer.

There have been five warrant notices for manslaughter: he is Marco Carbonatto, the director of Stellantis in Pratola Serra is among those under investigation together with the local safety manager of the FCA company, Andrea D’Urzo. The list of accused also includes Vincenzo Castaldo, head of the manufacturing department area, and the manager of the external company, Ms Automazione Srl of Foggia, Rocco Loffreda. Completing the list of suspects is a manager of the same company, Vanessa De Rogatis.
