Collision between an SUV and a tanker truck with over 5000 liters of diesel. Two people injured
Venice – At 3.40pm, yesterday Wednesday 8 May, the firefighters intervened for an accident in the Tessera area, in the municipality of Venice. In the vicinity of Marco Polo Airport, near the Favaro Dese junction, in the direction of the Mestre ring road, an accident occurred between an SUV and a medium-sized tanker truck. Both vehicles went off the road. The two drivers of the vehicles were injured. They were assisted and taken care of by Suem healthcare personnel.
Over 5000 liters of diesel
Inside the tanker there were over 5000 liters of diesel. The fire brigade teams, arriving from Mestre, also with the NBCR (Nuclear Biological Chemical Radiological) unit, stopped the fuel leak. They then intervened for the decanting procedures.
The operations to transfer the fuel to another tank continued for a few hours. ARPAV personnel also arrived on site to assess the fuel spill on the ground.
