Adults who regularly consume more than 7 g. of olive oil per day are 28% less likely to die from dementia-related diseases

We receive and publish: “A study conducted in the United States suggests that adding just half a tablespoon of olive oil to your daily diet may have significant health benefits, including protection against dementia. The researchers found that adults who consume regularly consuming more than 7 grams of olive oil per day (about half a tablespoon) are 28% less likely to die from dementia-related illnesses than those who consume no or little olive oil. Olive oil could exert anti-inflammatory and neuroprotective effects thanks to its high content of monounsaturated fatty acids and other compounds with antioxidant properties such as vitamin E and polyphenols. Previous research has suggested that people who regularly consume olive oil have about 30% less risk of dying from neurodegenerative diseases. As dementia cases continue to rise globally and there is no cure, taking preventative measures through diet, physical and mental exercise represents your best chance of combating these diseases. Olive oil is arguably a key element of a Mediterranean diet that often leads to positive health outcomes. Understanding which components of the diet have the greatest impact on health can be crucial to helping the most vulnerable people improve their well-being.”
