On the afternoon of Wednesday 8 May, shortly after 3.30pm, an accident occurred at km 1+600 west of the ring road Marco Polo, between Venice Airport and the Favaro Dese junction, towards the Mestre ring road.

The tanker overturned off the roadside

A car and a tanker loaded with diesel fuel were involved. Both vehicles ended up off the road, on the embankment adjacent to the road, following the dynamics of the accident, currently under investigation by the Venice Traffic Police.

In the accident, the drivers of the two vehicles suffered injuries, while a minor passenger in the car was unharmed.

Various rescuers intervened at the site of the accident, including the Traffic Police, the firefighters with an NBCR vehicle, the roadside assistance and the traffic auxiliaries of the Venetian Motorway Concessions, coordinated by the operations center of Mestre.

Pre-reporting and assistance operations were organised, with the closure of a lane to allow the rescue and recovery of the vehicles involved. For the tanker, in particular, it will be necessary to empty the fuel load before proceeding with recovery with a crane.
