OlivitalyMed: Cilento celebrates Extra Virgin Olive Oil

Last week, the first edition of. was held at the majestic Castle of Rocca Cilento OlivitalyMeda national exhibition dedicated to extra virgin olive oil, which aroused great interest and enthusiasm among sector experts and the passionate public.

The event, conceived by Stefano Sgueglia and created with the support of the Campania Region, offered a one-of-a-kind sensorial experience, with tastings, conferences and masterclasses that explored the many aspects of the world of extra virgin olive oil.

From Saturday 4th to Monday 6th May, the Rocca di Cilento Castle was the fulcrum of an intense program that involved institutions, associations, the press and sector professionals. The rooms of the castle were the scene of crowded meetings, where ideas and strategies for the future of extra virgin olive oil emerged.

Among the highlights of the event, the masterclass on Campania oils with designation of origin, which highlighted the richness and diversity of the region’s olive heritage. There was no shortage of guided tastings, which allowed participants to discover the best olive oil expressions of the Mediterranean and to appreciate the extraordinary differences between the various cultivars.

One of the most interesting meetings was the conference on Evofuturo, which explored the future prospects of the sector, with a particular focus on the importance of communication and product valorisation. Furthermore, the fundamental role of catering in promoting extra virgin olive oil not only as a condiment, but as a precious ingredient capable of enriching every dish was underlined.

The awards ceremony saw the awarding of the OlivitalyMed Prize, awarded in memory of Stefano Sgueglia, who gave the event its name. This award represents a recognition of innovation and commitment to promoting the excellence of extra virgin olive oil.

OlivitalyMed also offered the opportunity to national and foreign companies to present their best productions, allowing visitors to discover the various cultivars and the most representative olive-growing territories of the Mediterranean. Not only tastings, but also meetings with taste artisans who have been able to enhance extra virgin olive oil in combination with pastries, ice cream and mixology.

In conclusion, OlivitalyMed proved to be a highly successful event, which contributed to promoting the culture and craftsmanship linked to extra virgin olive oil, confirming itself as a point of reference for all enthusiasts of the sector.
