BRINDISI – There are two suspects in the investigation into the death of 46-year-old Vincenzo Valente, the worker who died in the night between last Friday and Saturday in a sugar factory in Toasts following an accident at work.

Stefano Morelli, 44 year old owner of the Sedec company of which Valente was an employee, and Riccardo Casoni, 57 year old, director of the sugar factory, are accused of aggravated manslaughter, committed in violation of the rules for the prevention of accidents at work. Valente, originally from Latian in the province of Brindisi, in the night between Friday and Saturday he was engaged in some maintenance activities when, for reasons still being ascertained, the tape severed his arm, causing serious bleeding. The investigations are being conducted by Spesal and the Police, and the preventive seizure of the accident area had already been carried out.

The worker’s body is still available to the Brindisi prosecutor’s office. On the day of the funeral, as the mayor of Latiano Mino Maiorano has already announced, city mourning will be proclaimed.
