Everything happened around 9.30am yesterday, Tuesday 8 May 2024. According to what was reported by the province of Lucca, the failure was caused by a roof beam resulting in “a portion of the roof falling onto the attic/ceiling below on which debris and broken tiles were deposited”.

By virtue of this teachers and students” of a classroom located on the second floor, “They heard the loud noise of the collapse, without the internal spaces of the classrooms being affected by visible signs of danger. The debris remained between the roof and the attic which fulfilled its safety function.”

Meanwhile, the classroom has been closed until further notice.

The causes are not yet clear

On the causes of the failure at the moment the technicians “don’t express themselves and they declare themselves enough incredulous because the checks carried out did not reveal any signs of water or humidity infiltrations, nor did other critical elements emerge”, they explained from the Province of Lucca.

The firefighters, police station and provincial administration intervened on site: among those present was also the president of the Province Luca Menesini.

The safety measures have started

According to reports, in these days the companies appointed by the Province “will intervene to temporarily secure the portion of the building affected by the collapse and cover the ‘hole’ created to prevent infiltration of rainwater.
