The winning path of Asd ATOMS’ Chieti continues in the national softball championship, series B. On Sunday 5 May, president Luigi Salvatore’s team won the double match against Cali Roma, beaten 6-1 and 9-7. A fundamental result for the Atoms’ roster which now has full points after 4 matches.
But the double match against Cali proved to be more difficult than expected: the Romans played game 1 well, putting the home team in serious difficulty. The result was in the balance at 2-1 until the fifth inning, when the Atoms’ attack finally broke free, scoring with five valid hits.
Great balance also in game 2, with the Chieti pitcher doing well to defend the lead gained and closing with the final 9-7. On the platform for the Atoms’ excellent performance by Anna Salvatore and Giorgia Di Santo, led from behind the plate by catcher Giulia D’Aviero. In attack, the best average was established by third baseman Micaela Capitanio who scored 3 valid hits.
Next Sunday the Atoms’ will have a rest period. We return to the field on Sunday 19 May, away to Florence, against first-place Fiorentina.
