Archaeology, “Death and memory in the early medieval Terra d’Otranto”

As part of the series of conferences “Research, what a passion!”, Thursday 9 May, at 5 pm, at the Musa of the University of Salento (Historical-archaeological Museum, via di Valesio, Lecce), Giuseppe Dicanio (in the picture) will hold a conference entitled: “Death and memory in the early medieval Terra d’Otranto”. Brunella Bruno, professor of Christian and Medieval Archeology at the University of Salento, will speak at the meeting, moderated by Grazia Maria Signore, director of Musa. Free admission. Giuseppe Dicanio he obtained a three-year degree from the University of Bari Aldo Moro discussing a thesis in Hagiography. In 2019 he obtained a master’s degree in Archeology at the University of Salento with a thesis in Medieval Archeology and Topography and in 2022 he graduated from the “Dinu Adamesteanu” School of Specialization in Archaeological Heritage, carrying out a thesis work in Medieval Archaeology. In 2019 and 2022 he participated in the excavation campaigns organized by the Italian Archaeological Mission in Hierapolis of Phrygia in Turkey (MAIER) and by the Soknopaiou Nesos Project in Egypt. He is currently busy with a doctoral project dedicated to funerary archeology in Terra d’Otranto during the early Middle Ages.
