Finally sent to the archive the controversy linked to its nomenclature, the new Alfa Romeo Junior has officially become orderable. The Arese brand has indeed announced the opening of orders for the new hybrid and electric entry versions of the small SUV, destined to fit into that B segment that drives the automotive market so much in Italy and Europe.
After having been practically on everyone’s lips due to the issues linked to its original name, the former Alfa Romeo Milano – aka Alfa Romeo Junior – has recently become available for order in its entry level variants. After having made the debut of the B-SUV which caused so much discussion with one launch edition named “SPECIAL”, the historic Arese brand has revealed to the world the features and prices of the entry-level versions equipped with mild-hybrid and full electric engines.
The two entry level variants, unlike what many of you might have expected, according to the letter of the Stellantis press release “They make no distinctions regarding aesthetics or equipment, because the only thing that matters is that they are 100% Alfa Romeo”. As regards the exterior, the new reinterpretation of the stands out scudetto “Legend”, the lighthouses full LED front and rear, the exterior rear-view mirrors in glossy black and the alloy wheels from 17” for the Hybrid version and from 18” for the Electric version, while from the point of view of the interiors the interiors are worth mentioning “Icon” in fabric, the rear seat can be folded down in a 60/40 split and – in the hybrid version only – i gear shift paddles on the steering wheel.

From an exterior point of view, this setup stands out for a different interpretation of the scudetto, for them matte sports finishes, for the “Brera Red” color and for i 18″ alloy wheels while as regards the interior, the upholstery of the seats stands out vinyl-fabric, the steering wheel Leather, the driver’s seat with electric adjustment And massage function And internal ambient lighting 8 colours. They then complete the equipment of the SPECIAL version level 2 autonomous driving, The electric tailgate, The keyless system with proximity access technology and the 180° rear camera.
As already mentioned a few lines above, the three variants of the Alfa Romeo Junior will be available with two engines, one mild hybrid it’s a completely electric. The Alfa Romeo Junior hybrid will be able to develop 136 HP of maximum power thanks to the collaboration between a 3-cylinder turbopetrol with 1,200 cc displacement and from a 21 kW electric motor, both combined with a six-speed dual-clutch gearbox. Just as happens on the new Lancia Ypsilon powered by the same technology, the hybrid Alfa Romeo Junior will also be able to guarantee a guide in full-electric mode: the combustion engine will in fact be kept at rest both in the urban maneuvers at low speeds both in the extra-urban routes traveled under low load conditions And with speeds not exceeding 150 km/h. The internal combustion engine will clearly remain, however a distant memory if you decide to opt for the full-electric motorization, capable of delivering 156 HP thanks to a battery from 54 kWh which according to the data declared should guarantee an autonomy of 410km in the WLTP cycle (and beyond 590 km in the urban cycle) and which it will take 30′ to recharge from 10 to 80% if attached to an HPC column.
Prices, as is obvious, will vary based on the set-up selected and the engine chosen. If the launch edition “SPECIAL” will be available starting from €31,500 in the version mild hybrid and from €41,500 in the version electric, the variations entry level of the new Alfa Romeo Junior will be offered with a starting price of €29,900 in the case of motorization hybrid and of €39,500 in the case of motorization instead electric. “I’m sure they’ll get there from the new Junior many satisfactions: will allow us to grow in terms of volumes, shares and Brand Reputation” – he has declared Raffaele Russo, Country Manager for Italy of Alfa Romeo – “With Junior it opens up a new chapter in our history, a chapter of authentic emotions which we will write together with all the enthusiasts, Alfisti but not only, who were waiting for the brand’s return to this segment”.
