Strong explosion felt yesterday evening, around 11.30 pm, in via Villa Cappello in Castelvetrano, due to the explosion of an explosive device placed in the stairwell of the house of a local criminal.
In front of the house the firefighters also found flowers, a clear sign of an intimidating attack. The loud bang, heard throughout the Palma neighborhood, caused no injuries.
In some homes the glass windows were destroyed. The investigations are conducted by the Carabinieri of the Castelvetrano company led by Captain Pietro Calabrò.
The bomb threat in Termini
Bomb alert due to the presence of a suspicious suitcase under the railway bridge, in via Ugo Foscolo near the supermarket in Termini Imerese in the province of Palermo. The presence of a suitcase was reported in the underpass. The carabinieri of the Termini Imerese territorial department and the officers of the local police station intervened and cordoned off the area. Traffic in the area was at a standstill. The bomb squad blew up the suitcase and prevented the presence of explosives.
The bomb threat in the Amap offices
Bomb alarm at the beginning of March in the Amap offices in via Volturno, Palermo. Around 11am, the staff of the Partecipata company which deals with the water service in the city had to abandon their positions. Several dozen people then poured into the street, waiting for updates. Carabinieri and state police personnel immediately arrived on site. The ritual operations of the bomb squad were carried out inside to verify the presence of any threats. Checks that gave negative results.
Around 12pm, the staff employed in user services were able to return to their workplace. Instead, the technicians from the design department waited outside and had to wait for further information. According to rumors gathered on site, the alarm was triggered following an anonymous call to the company’s office. A fact for which the managers of the company in via Volturno alerted the police and evacuated the staff from their stations.
In mid-December bomb in a ship at the shipyards
In mid-December, a bomb alarm was reported on a merchant ship undergoing repairs in the port of Palermo. A suspicious package was found on the vessel by workers during an inspection. A package that shouldn’t have been there in the area where it was found. The ship had recently entered the docks. The security system was triggered and the military from the port authority, the police and the bomb squad intervened to verify the contents of the package.
