Giada Paolella, 8 years old, from Castione dies in a head-on collision in Clusone. The 9-year-old brother was injured. Three adults were also in hospital, including the children’s grandmother

An 8-year-old girl, Giada Paolella, from Castione, died in the evening in an accident that occurred on the state road in Clusone. The head-on collision between two cars on the wet road occurred at 10.40pm yesterday near San Lorenzo di Rovetta. In a Seat traveling in the direction of Castione there were a 60-year-old woman with her two grandchildren, her 8-year-old girl and her 9-year-old brother. A BMW arrived from the opposite direction with a 47 year old man and a 60 year old woman on board, both from Clusone.

For reasons currently being investigated by the Clusone police, near a roundabout one of the two cars skidded on the rain-soaked asphalt and invaded the opposite lane where there was a violent crash. The little girl died instantly, her nine-year-old brother was injured, as were the woman and the couple in the BMW. The family of the little victim lives in the Rusio area and the parents work as waiters at the Hotel Milano in Bratto.

Two helicopters from Brescia and Sondrio, four ambulances and the firefighters of Clusone and Gazzaniga intervened on site. One of the injured (who was on board the BMW) is in code red at the Brescia civil hospital, the others are at the Gavazzeni clinics in Bergamo. The vehicles were seized by the judicial authorities, who had blood alcohol tests carried out on the drivers of the two vehicles, while the little girl’s body has already been handed over to the family.
