the growth of the system is at the center

The national football system must guarantee the affirmation of the principle of fair competition: this is supported by the leaders of Lega Serie B, who in a note confirm that they are available for a constructive discussion with the Ministry of Sport. The reform must also be consistent with the same principles prevalent in democratic systems. The topics of the day are obviously those of the entry of the new Champions League which also impacts national football.

The note

There Serie B League and its members, while firmly respecting the principles of the autonomy of the sports system, confirm their total availability for a constructive, loyal and collaborative discussion with the relevant institutions and with the Minister of Sport towards whom we feel the utmost consideration and respect. In fact, it is a historic opportunity to undertake all those initiatives necessary to improve the national football system and to guarantee, above all else, the affirmation of the principle of fair competition. In this perspective, the League of B has long been claiming the need for a reform of the federal system that leads to a more advanced governance consistent with the same principles prevalent in Western democratic systems such as, by way of example: greater separation of powers between the regulator and the control functions; maximum rigor regarding the principles of admission to the championships; severity in the fight against conflicts of interest that afflict national football; greater equity in the redistribution of resources and redefinition of mutualistic principles, especially with regard to full compliance with the provisions of the Melandri Law and the possible contribution of the new SuperChampions. Lega B also hopes for a review of federal governance that respects clear and declared principles of social and sporting congruity, and which can be a more effective safeguard for an effective and concrete protection of the values of national football.
