To make the tablet a useful part of the home, it is combined with the charging base with integrated speaker. The base keeps the tablet charged and has speakers with four times more amplified bass than those of the Pixel Tablet. Furthermore, when the tablet is in Hub mode, it transforms into a useful home device that can also be used hands-free. It can be used as a smart home controller, music and entertainment player, voice-activated assistant or digital photo frame. Google explains: “Pixel Tablet is one of the best ways to control your smart home. When in Hub mode, tap the Google Home icon to access all compatible smart home devices, so you can view your video doorbell feed, adjust your thermostat, or turn on your living room lights. The same devices are present in the “Favorites” tab of the Google Home app, available today for everyone.” It’s also the first tablet with Chromecast built-in, so you can stream video or music from your phone to your tablet when it’s in Hub mode.
In Italy, it is possible to purchase the new Pixel Tablet alone, choosing between the 128 GB version at 499 euros or the 256 GB version at 619 euros or together with its charging base with speaker at 599 euros for 128 GB or 719 euros for 256GB. Pixel Tablet will be available for pre-order on Amazon and Google Store from 7 May and on sale from 14 May at the Google Store, Amazon and Unieuro.
