Logan Sargeant he is certainly not having an easy time in this first part of the Formula 1 season. On lap 29 of the Miami GP, he was forced to withdraw due to an accident with Kevin Magnussen. The American driver was not at fault on this occasion, with the Haas standard bearer who, after having collected a series of penalties during the sprint, was sanctioned for the accident with a 10 second penalty and 2 points on his licence, coming close to the mark of 12 which would lead to a one-race disqualification. But the radio team that Sargeant had after the collision, makes it clear how much the Williams driver is experiencing a very complicated periodand his days in Formula 1 may be numbered.

Sargeant looked almost in tears after the incident with Magnussen. The engineer immediately tried to reassure the American pilot, telling him several times how the accident occurred it wasn’t his fault. This, however, was not enough to reassure the Williams driver, who asked in desperation “Did I do something wrong?”. Sargeant certainly hoped for a different epilogue for his home grand prix, after a first part of the season decidedly stingy with satisfaction, in which he is continually coming beaten by his teammate, as had already happened last year.

Despite James Vowles, team principal of Williams, continues to publicly defend Sargeant, the American driver must produce results if he wants to continue racing in Formula 1. Certainly, he is not considered the equal of his teammate Alexander Albon, to whom he also had to give up the car after the Thai driver’s accident during the FP1 of the Australian GP. Just as he didn’t help either, the accident he had in the following Suzuka GP, where he seriously damaged the car during free practice and ended up off the track during the race too.

In recent weeks, there have been rumors of a possible replacement with him Andrea Kimi Antonelliwho will turn 18 on August 25th and who according to some could take Sargeant’s place already starting from the Monza GP. The FIA, meanwhile, has announced that it has received and is evaluating a request exception to give the Bolognese driver the chance to make his debut in F1 before he becomes an adult and get a driving license (necessary requirement to be able to race in the Circus).
