Rome, 7 May 2024 – Heavy bombings during the night and armored troops on the move towards Rafah. They are “targeted attacks” by Israel for increase the pressure on the city in the south of the Strip, which for weeks has been indicated as the target of a ground operationin view of new talks which will be held today in Egypt for finalize the agreement truce in Gaza and the release of the hostages. This after Hamas announced last night that it had accepted at the last minute the proposal by Egypt and Qatar for a ceasefire agreement, a position however denied by Prime Minister Netanyahu’s office: Hamas did not accept the “essential requests” of Israel. Meanwhile, UN Secretary Guterres has defined a land invasion in Rafah as “intolerable”, while there is anticipation in Cairo for the today’s deal between the delegations of Hamas and Israel.

IDF confirms: control of Rafah crossing taken
The Israel Defense Forces confirmed that the 401st Armored Brigade took control this morning of the Rafah crossing on the Gaza side. The crossing with Egypt is now no longer connected to the Salah a-Din road, in the eastern part of the city, which was conquered by the Givati Brigade during the night. Media: Israeli army moving towards Rafah crossing
