Flooring, false ceilings, locks, technological systems and more. There is a lot to rebuild at the Don Minzoni middle school in via Celso Cicognani, after the fire on April 2nd. In recent days, in view of the extraordinary maintenance works necessary to restore the affected premises, the Municipality has put pen to paper in a document addressing the damage and works to be carried out. “Some rooms on the ground floor were irreparably damaged by the fire, which developed under the external portico of the building and subsequently spread inside the school, irreparably damaging some classrooms, which were currently declared unusable – we read in the document –. The fumes from the combustion they invaded various rooms such as corridors, secretariat, bathrooms and rooms serving the canteen, making it necessary to carry out works to remove the existing false ceilings as they were impregnated with the ashes of combustion and damaging part of the technological systems present with the heat it was almost entirely demolished as it was irremediably damaged. All the systems present in the rooms affected by the fire were compromised, while those in the neighboring rooms were largely damaged”.
The maintenance works will therefore aim at the “restoration of the rooms burned (renovation of the floors, reconstruction of the false ceilings and replacement of the windows)”, the “reconstruction of the false ceilings removed in the adjacent rooms damaged by the rivers”, the “restoration of the technological systems damaged by the fire present in unusable rooms and in neighboring ones (ordinary lighting, emergency lighting, fire detection, data network and power supply), to the “restoration of the damaged fire compartments” and finally to the “renovation of the false ceiling of the portico behind the building damaged due to its almost entirety since the fire”.
Work planned hastily and unexpectedly, after the fire: at the moment the amount that will have to be spent by Palazzo Merlato has not yet been put in black and white, but it is a safe bet that it will be over 100 thousand euros.
