The Belgian Tim Merlier of Soudal Quick-Step won the third stage of the Giro d’Italia, the 166 km Novara-Fossano, in a sprint. Jonathan Milan second, Eritrean Biniam Girmay third. Merlier beat the Italian Jonathan Milan at the finish line, with the Eritrean Biniam Girmay third.
Tadej Pogacar, protagonist of a late attack together with Thomas, remains in the pink jersey. Tomorrow the fourth stage, from Acqui Terme to Andora.
Emotions for VF Group Bardiani – CSF Faizanè in this third stage of the Giro d’Italia (Fiorelli is no longer in the cyclamen jersey): Marcellusi, Fiorelli and Zanoncello were the absolute protagonists.
The race exploded after Masio’s flying finish. On the acceleration leading to the flying finish line, the group broke up and 26 riders remained in front, including the three standard bearers of the VF Group Bardini-CSF Faizanè. The main group, taken by surprise and not without difficulty, managed to close the gap after thirty kilometres.
