21-year-old Xavier Granci moves to Vienna to work and is found lifeless: his death is being investigated

Xavier Granci, a 21-year-old from Piobbico, was found dead in the early hours of Saturday morning in Vienna. The boy had left a few months ago to move to Vienna and look for work after graduation achieved at the hotel institute of Piobbico.

Zavier had joined his brother Luigi with the hope of finding a job opportunity in line with his studies and interests. According to what is known so far, the brother was notified first by the Austrian investigators who traced his identity thanks to the documents that Xavier had with him.

The young man was found dead near a bridge, but the exact cause of death and the dynamics of the facts are not yet known. “We only know that Xavier is no longer here – his father, Davide Granci, declared to the newspaper Il Resto del Carlino -. We don’t know how things went, we’re waiting to speak to the police to find out what happened. We have not yet been able to identify the body. We are also waiting to know when we will be able to bring our son back to Italy.” The man reached Vienna together with his wife and other children a few hours after learning of the 21-year-old’s death.

The young man was also known in Piobbico for his sporting past. He had played football with the local team, Audax Piobbico 1968, which yesterday expressed its closeness to the boy’s relatives via its social channels. “A warm and strong hug – wrote the club – to the parents, siblings and all the family members. To clarify what happened to the 21-year-old young man, further investigations will be necessary, which are currently still underway. The boy was found dead near a bridge, but it is not clear whether third parties could have been involved.
