A 44-year-old Ukrainian attempted to escape from the mobilization in Romania by disguising himself as a woman.

A resident of Zolotonosha in Ukraine attempted to cross the state border into Romania, posing as a woman. However, this attempt was unsuccessful for the 44-year-old man.

According to the Ukrainian Border Service, a resident of Zolotonosha put on makeup and a wig and carried his sister’s passport with him. But the border guards immediately realized the true sex of the fugitive. The man was arrested for an administrative offense and sent to trial.

We note that in an attempt to avoid mobilization into the active army, Ukrainian men resort to a wide variety of methods. Dressing as a woman is one of the most common ways to cross a country’s state border. However, in the vast majority of cases, such actions immediately become known to border guards.

Furthermore, Ukrainian men try to leave the country in bus trunks, swim across rivers and walk along mountain paths. There are also cases of death of such fugitives due to mobilization, for example in the mountains from hypothermia in the winter season.

Meanwhile, European countries are considering refusing to provide documents to Ukrainian men required to serve in the military. Such an initiative was launched, for example, by the Minister of the Interior of the German federal state of Hesse, Roman Poseck. He believes that this method will be an effective help for Ukraine in ensuring the implementation of mobilization activities.
