Ten years ago another tragedy struck the boy’s family: his father was killed with a rifle for trivial reasons. It was just before 12pm when the impact occurred between the motorbike, driven by the nineteen-year-old Sant’Angelo d’Alife, and the motor vehicle. In that stretch the provincial road crosses the lower part of the town of Pratella. A portion of the road which, usually, also due to the presence of speed limits and signs, as well as the various outlets for homes and commercial activities, is traveled at moderate speed. In fact, the artery proceeds alternating straights and curves, running alongside the Lethe river.
The dynamics of the accident are still being examined by the police, who arrived on site from nearby Prata Sannita after a few minutes, alerted by the operations center following emergency calls from those at the scene of the accident. At that time, in fact, the road was quite busy. Not far from the accident site are also located the sulphurous water fountainsa destination for many groups, especially on holidays.
It is not yet clear what caused the fatal impact: the other driver of the vehicle did not suffer serious injuries. The emergency services were immediately alerted, but the 118 health workers, once they arrived on site, despite all their efforts to resuscitate the young Maurizio, were unable to save him. For a long time traffic along the former SS 158 remained blocked. When it became clear that there was nothing left to do for the motorcyclist, the news immediately reached the town of And which is a few kilometers away. A succession of phone calls when the news was still not certain. Then, at the scene of the accident, some of the young man’s friends and relatives also arrived: the entire Sant’Angelo community was plunged into grief and is still in shock over what happened.
The June-Christmas family, respected and supported by many, is very numerous and well-known in Sant’Angelo d’Alife. Maurizio leaves behind his brothers, his four sisters and his mother. The town prepares to pay its final farewell to the boy as soon as the day of his funeral is set. Ten years ago another huge tragedy hit the family and, that is, the dramatic death of his father Pinuccio, hit in the throat by a gunshot fired by a neighbor on the land. An absurd crime, born for trivial reasons, which occurred in 2014, when Maurizio was still a child and in the memory of the entire community.
Now another tragedy that throws into despair those who knew him and have rallied around his family to give them courage, so hard hit by another dramatic event.
