Albenga, success for the collegiate Federkombat Liguria: 130 athletes and coaches from all over Liguria gathered

Albenga. The regional collegiate stage of the Federkombat (Italian Kickboxing, Muay Thai, Savate, Shoot Boxing and Sambo Federation, National Sports Federation recognized by CONI) was held yesterday (5 May) at the Palazzetto di Sport in Albenga.

More than 130 athletes and coaches from sports clubs from all over Liguria and also from other regions gathered in the beautiful Palamarco structure. After the presentation of the event by the regional vice president Alessandro De Blasi and the greetings of the municipal administration of Albenga, the regional technical directors of kickboxing Fabio Foti and Stefano Gagliolo managed the various work areas dedicated to the individual specialties: from kickboxing precisely, to savate (with the technical directors Luigi Alessandri, Alessio Murabito and Francesco Chipparino), to muay thai (with the regional technical director of the specialty Luca Cuccu).

It was a day of sport and fun in which athletes of all ages, from children to adults, shared knowledge and passion. Also giving prestige to the event was the presence of two well-known world champions: Chiara Vincis from Savona and Silvia Lanotte from Milan.

For many competitive athletes, collegiate training was also an opportunity to refine their techniques in view of the upcoming Italian specialty championships: for savate on 18 – 19 May and for kickboxing on 23-26 May also in Jesolo.

The Albenga gathering ended with Alessandro De Blasi’s invitation to all the clubs to participate in “Tempus Tacendi Tempus Belli – Battle under the Lantern”: a huge international event will be held on 15 June at the RDS Stadium in Genoa organized by the Ligurian Federkombat Committee, supported by the Municipality of Genoa and included in the program of Genoa 2024 European Capital of Sport, which will involve all the Ligurian teams in the various specialties, in light contact and full contact, from amateurs to pros.

The key match of the evening, preceded by an Italian pro title that will be revealed shortly, will be the WAKO Pro world title of K1, -58.2kg category, which will see the incompetent Samuele Iorio of Kombat Team Alassio enter the ring against the holder of the title, the strong French athlete Luc Genieys.
