THE INVESTIGATION
A simply devastating fire. Over one thousand three hundred square meters of warehouse went up in smoke within a few hours. Mostly paper materials, vehicles, batteries and probably tires and some vehicles were burned.
The next day, all that remains of the warehouse belonging to Itl Trasporti Logistica is a huge pile of ash and sheet metal. The fire, which broke out on Saturday evening around 10.30pm in the structure on Via delle Industrie, in the heart of the industrial area of Aprilia, devoured everything. The flames immediately reached several meters in height, visible from several kilometers away. After receiving the report from the owners of the warehouse, several fire brigade teams arrived on site: two from the nearby Aprilia headquarters, one from Pomezia, one from Latina, plus three tankers. Also present were the Civil Protection volunteers who rushed to lend support given the complexity and size of the fire.
The entire arrangement was coordinated by the unit responsible for the Latina guard who arrived with the provincial fire brigade shift chief. The firefighters immediately tried to contain the fire which, upon their arrival, had already assumed dramatic proportions. The entire warehouse used as a logistics warehouse was completely on fire. From time to time, some explosions, due to the presence of vehicles and forklifts inside the structure, made the situation even more dangerous for the operators.
In the meantime, the drivers of the various trucks that were parked outside were also contacted. A race against time to prevent even heavy vehicles from being hit by flames.
The fire extinguishing operations then continued throughout the night and only around 2 am the fire was declared under control by the firefighters and confined to the center of the structure. Yesterday morning there were still some outbreaks inside the shed which were then extinguished as the hours passed. The metal roof that partially covered the building then gave way, collapsing to the ground.
And at this moment, what is worrying is precisely the overall stability of the structure that will have to be evaluated.
The Carabinieri from the Aprilia territorial department were also present in Via delle Industrie and are now awaiting a detailed report from the firefighters to understand the origin of the flames. Already on Saturday evening, however, some people who worked inside the logistics depot reported seeing two people escape and after a few minutes flames broke out in the warehouse. In this sense, the images of the video surveillance cameras present in the area and already acquired by the carabinieri of the territorial department of via Tiberio will be fundamental.
Fortunately, the huge fire caused no injuries or poisoned people. After Loas and Freddindustria, Aprilia has to deal with another devastating fire in the area which hosts dozens of businesses, many of which are united in the Ciap consortium. On Saturday evening, in via delle Industrie, Marco Braccini, president of the consortium, was also there to demonstrate his solidarity with ITL transport logistics.
