Majesty, melancholy, the joy of a popular festival. The sensations set to music by great Russian composer Tchaikovsky resounded on Saturday night at the Comunale di Sassari thanks to the orchestra of the Marialia de Carolis institution conducted by the violinist Massimo Quarta.
The second event of the symphony season also received enthusiastic applause. In the opening dedicated to the Concerto for violin and orchestra in D Major op. 35 highlighted the technique and interpretative ability of Quarta, one of the best violinists internationally. So much so that in the requested encore he performed a pyrotechnic interpretation of Paganini’s Capriccio n° 1.
The second part of the concert was dedicated to Symphony No. 4 in F minor op. 36. Here the quality of the orchestra of the Sassari institution and the beautiful harmony with the director Quarta who directed the performance of the Scherzo only with his gaze, remaining absolutely still, were highlighted.
