The searches move to Casalbordino Lido. After having explored the coast and the Lecceta of Torino di Sangro, the teams are heading further south and, for the sixth consecutive day, are looking for Milena Santirocco, the 54-year-old dance teacher from Lanciano who has not been heard from since the afternoon of Sunday 28 April. Today the UCL (local command unit) of the firefighters, the dog units, the divers and the volunteer teams will go into action on the Casale coast.
Molecular dogs and divers
It was the canine units who strengthened the path that leads to the coast. «Starting from the Borgata Marina square in Torino di Sangro, Elody followed an odorous trail leading us to the beach and onto the overflow, twice she even threw herself into the water». Armando Rucci, national instructor of the Fisa dog units (Italian rescue federation), tells how yesterday the molecular dog directed the search teams towards the southern coast of Torino di Sangro. «I sought confirmation by asking for the intervention of two other molecular dogs. Confirm that it has arrived. It was an area that the lady often frequented.” The divers went back to dive again this morning, without success. Coordinated by the Prefecture of Chieti and, in the field, by the local fire brigade command unit, law enforcement, coast guard and over one hundred civil protection volunteers have taken turns since Monday.
Two reports
Milena Santirocco disappeared six days ago, since Sunday afternoon. The 54-year-old from Lanciano had lunch at home with her children, Denis and Manuel, and then she went out for a walk. Until 3.40pm she posted stories on her WhatsApp status in which the Sangro Riviera of Turin was clearly recognised. Then darkness: phone turned off, Facebook profile closed. Today the family members distributed flyers with the woman’s photo and contact details Penelope Abruzzo, the association of relatives of missing persons. In recent days she had been the president, Alessia Natali, who said he had received two reports from Vasto: two sightings, one around 10pm, the other between 10.30pm and 11pm on state road 16, in Punta Penna. According to her children, Milena had no reason to voluntarily leave her.
