Three injured, one seriously, in a road accident on the SS18 in Amantea between an articulated lorry and a van
Amantea 3 May 2024 – Three injured people, one of whom is in serious condition, are the result of a road accident that occurred this morning on the SS18, in the Tonnara area in the municipality of Amantea.
The accident, which occurred around 6.10am, involved an articulated lorry with cold storage and a flatbed Daily van. Teams of the Fire Brigade from the Cosenza Command, Paola detachment, intervened on site and worked to extract the injured from the sheets of the vehicles.
One of the injured, who was stuck between the sheets of the van, was entrusted to the care of Suem118 healthcare personnel and transported to hospital. However, the driver of the articulated lorry was uninjured.
The firefighters also ensured the safety of the site and the damaged vehicles. The SS18 was temporarily closed to transit in the section affected by the accident to allow rescue operations.
The police also intervened on site to carry out legal investigations and to establish the dynamics of the accident.
