Portugal wins Routes Europe 2024 as best destination

The Tourist Board of Portugal won the “Best Destination” award at the Routes Europe 2024 awards, and the announcement was held recently in Aarhus, in Denmark. The recognition, promoted by the online platform Routes highlights marketing excellence in actions related to promoting destination connectivity.

In recent times, Portugal’s tourism has developed intense and in-depth work in terms of air connectivity for the country. This work is now being recognized by airlines directly participating in voting for this award, which demonstrates the relevance ofmarketing activities and promotion carried out by the Portuguese institution and the quality of the monitoring carried out. It also underlines the importance of Portugal Tourism in supporting the decision-making process and in relaunching public tourism policies that promote the competitiveness of accessibility to the national territory.

«It is an award that makes us very proud – commented the president of the Portuguese Tourism Board, Carlos Abade – because it recognizes the work carried out in sectors fundamental to the success of tourism in Portugal, namely marketing and its inevitable relationship with air connections.”

Next to the Portuguese tourism board, the four other finalists they were the Cyprus Ministry of Tourism, the Jordan Tourism Board, Malta Tourism Authority and Visit Valencia. All were evaluated by a panel of airlines who scored the destinations they believe have offered the best marketing support over the past 12 months.
