An explosion of elements: the students of the “Carmela Ciniglio” school on the podium
COLLETORTO. The children of the 3rd A class of the “Carmela Ciniglio” secondary school in Colletorto with “An explosion of elements” won second place in the external graphic – pictorial category of the eighth edition of the competition in memory of Antonella Valente , the pupil who passed away prematurely, who in art, in all its forms, found the strength, enthusiasm and serenity to face the serious illness that struck her, announced by the all-inclusive institute of Fortore Riccia-Sant’ Elia a Pianisi and the municipality of Sant’Elia a Pianisi.
The students starting from the analysis of the theme reported in the announcement: “Air, Water, Earth, Fire. The Four Elements are powerful guides for living in harmony with nature and our essence. Air: Every breath creates more space in our being. Let us learn to become fluid like Water. The Earth reminds us to live fully in the body here and now. Fire nourishes one’s inner sun. When we are in tune with the four elements we draw on the wisdom of life”, they created a particular work resulting from an interdisciplinary work led by Professor Filomena Calisto (Italian) and Professor Giuseppina Ferrante (Art and Image) which convinced the jury of experts .
Based on a reflection following the viewing of the Disney Pixar film “Elemental”, starring a girl of fire, a boy of water, an element of air and a young boy of earth, which is a hymn to the acceptance of uniqueness; Sara, Giovanni, Viviana, Pasquale, Giuseppe, Martina and Vincenzo, through graphic and poetic representation, have entrusted to characters and verses a story of relationships that demonstrates how opposites attract and manage to live together despite their differences.
Each element has its own temperament, fire – determined and fickle, water – empathetic and emotional, air – stormy and soft and earth – affectionate and gentle, in which each boy reviews his personality and reflects on the ability to accept and live with his own opposite to. «Definitely particular work created in a truly eclectic way, in which undoubted abilities in the fields of painting, literature and above all graphics are mixed together», the jury’s comment which leaves the kids speechless and makes everyone proud of them… «Well done!» .
