This is a free online event scheduled for May 3rd, from 3.30pm to 6.30pm

Understanding and supporting mourning is a thematic meeting aimed at family members and friends of people
mourners and the broader community. This is a free online event scheduled for May 3,
from 3.30pm to 6.30pm, which constitutes one of the outputs of the European project
AURORA@COVID19-EU. This project involves the University of Salento (responsible
scientific professor Claudia Venuleo), the Portuguese University of Maia, the Spanish University of
Comillas and the Danish National Bereavement Center.

The project aims to build adequate support networks for bereaved people, through
construction of guidelines and training activities aimed at different targets (psychologists, operators
health workers, educators, wider community). It is estimated that today, following the pandemic scenario, more
two billion people are faced with the loss of one or more significant others; there
limitation of family visits to places of assistance and care, the sudden nature of
death, the often impossibility of giving a final farewell and commemorating the deceased – they had a
significant impact on the mental health of many bereaved people, exposing them to feelings of
impotence and complicated reactions to mourning. Build skills to make the end of life more
dignified, less traumatic mourning, more effective help is today more than ever an ethical and
public health.
After the training course aimed at psychologists and therapists, and after the training course aimed at
health workers, teachers, educators, this thematic meeting addresses the theme of loss, of
bereavement and bereavement support reaching out to the wider community.
Participation is free, registration via the QR code indicated on the poster.
