A violent argument that turned into a murder. The 18-year-old asylum seeker, of Gambian origin, violently attacked by another migrant on 30 April in Canelli, in the province of Asti, did not make it. He was rescued by 118 and transported by helicopter to Alessandria hospital, but his condition immediately appeared critical. As reported by La Stampa, he had been hospitalized in a coma, but the doctors had to give up on the afternoon of May 1st when tests revealed that the blows inflicted on his head had caused irreversible injuries.

The aggression

On 30 April in Piazza San Carlo Gancia in Canelli (AT), as reported by the newspaper La Stampa, an 18-year-old boy from Gambia was attacked by another migrant, a 20-year-old of Pakistani origins. The attacker violently hit the young man several times on the head with a chain. The scene was filmed by video surveillance cameras and occurred before the eyes of some passers-by. That same evening the police immediately tracked down the attacker and placed him under arrest while waiting to assess the condition of the injured man. Now, after the death of the 18-year-old, the Pakistani boy is accused of murder. Both guests of the Cassinasco migrant reception center, they had already argued other times in the facility. The carabinieri have yet to clarify the reasons for the attack but, according to initial reconstructions, the reasons were futile.
