meeting in Ravenna to take stock of the situation

What is the status of the territories that were affected by the May 2023 flood in Emilia-Romagna? How many compensations have been paid to date? At what stage are the refreshment procedures? And how did companies and citizens restart in the twelve months that followed the floods? Questions that we will try to answer on Friday 3 May in Ravenna, exactly one year after the start of the climate catastrophe that devastated Emilia-Romagna.

The Legacoop cooperative movement returns to shine the spotlight on the affected areas, with an event that represents the ideal continuation of the public demonstration organized last September in the same city. Then the cooperators found themselves at one of the points where the embankments were cut to try to save the inhabited areas, sacrificing the cultivated fields owned by the cooperatives. The title chosen is significant: “Let’s hurry, it’s late”. Even the location chosen is not accidental: the Copura logistics plant, on the outskirts of the city, was one of those most compromised by the invasion of the waters. “There are twenty-one cooperatives associated with us that have suffered damage, for a total of almost 42 million euros – explains the president of Legacoop Romagna, Paolo Lucchi -. We would like to continue to say we are optimistic about the many promises made by the government since the beginning of emergency, but figures and facts to date tell us something else.”

The president of Legacoop Romagna, Paolo Lucchi, will open the proceedings at 9am. This will be followed by the screening of the documentary “The pain and the strength of cooperation”, finalist in the National Film Enterprise Award, and the speech by Mirco Bagnari, coordinator of the Legacoop area of Ravenna, who will analyze the current state of the compensation intended for the victims of ‘flood.

Immediately afterwards Irene Priolo, Councilor for Soil Defense and Civil Protection of the Region, will illustrate the reconstruction process. The video and live testimony of some of the cooperatives that suffered damage – including Cab Terra, Camst, Conad, Coop Alleanza 3.0, Copura, Deco, Icel and Zerocento – will serve to outline the relaunch initiatives implemented by the companies, including in light of the important internal solidarity action within Legacoop, amounting to over 6 million euros.

Speaking for the institutions will be the prefect of Ravenna Castrese De Rosa, the president of the Province of Ravenna, Michele De Pascale, the president of the Province of Forlì-Cesena, Enzo Lattuca, and the president of the Emilia-Romagna Region, Stefano Bonaccini. The conclusions will be entrusted to Simone Gamberini, President of Legacoop Nazionale.
