A nurse was attacked in the San Rocco hospital in Sessa Aurunca (Caserta) by the relative of a patient, who first hit her with an IV pole in the emergency room, then with a violent slap on the face; the victim was forced to seek medical treatment.
The event happened yesterday, and today the CGIL-FP (Public Service) intervened with a note from the Caserta secretary with responsibility for healthcare Ciro Vettone, who expresses “solidarity and closeness on behalf of the entire Secretariat of Caserta to the health professional attacked.
Attacks on healthcare personnel are now a widespread plague throughout the province, violent acts in particular against healthcare workers in the emergency service who are more exposed only because they carry out their role to protect the health of citizens”.
“Against violence in hospitals – adds Vettone – there is a need for an ad hoc law, but also an extraordinary plan for the South. We certainly need legislation that increases the penalties for attacks on healthcare workers, as well as making the offices safer with the provision of police stations ”.
