Thursday 23 May, at 5pm, at “Silvio Petrone” room of Banca Campania Centroa meeting-debate will be held with Gabriel Zuchtriegel, director of the Archaeological Park of Pompeii and former director of the Archaeological Park of Paestum. The event is promoted by Rotary Club Battipaglia and from Cassa Rurale Battipaglia Foundationin collaboration with Banca Campania Centro.
The meeting, entitled “Cooperating for culture”, will offer a multi-voiced dialogue on the topic of cooperation in the world of cultural heritage and on the importance of valorising archaeological heritage. The Battipaglia Rotary Club, led by president Carlo Tomeo, organized this meeting as part of the celebrations for the club’s fiftieth anniversary, seeing Zuchtriegel as one of the most influential figures in the Italian cultural panorama.
Zuchtriegel’s new book will be presented during the meeting, “Pompeii. The enchanted city” (published by Feltrinelli), a fascinating journey through archaeological discoveries from the first eighteenth-century excavations to the most recent findings, which shed new light on the life of slaves and the poor in the city of Pompeii.
The debate will be enriched by the interventions of Antonia Willburgermunicipal councilor of Salerno, former municipal councilor with responsibility for Culture, Carlo Tomeopresident of the Battipaglia Rotary Club, Camillo Catarozzopresident of Banca Campania Centro, e Franco Poetcouncilor of the Board of Directors of the Cassa Rurale Battipaglia Foundation.
