For admission to ordinary first level and single cycle and second level courses

A university campus, public and free, where you can live, study, grow and learn. The Scuola Superiore Sant’Anna of Pisa announces the opening of registrations for the competition for admission to the first and second level ordinary courses: 78 places in total, divided into 60 places for students of the first year of the courses Level I and Single Cycle Ordinary Courses and 18 student places in the first year of Level II Ordinary Courses, for a training experience that has few equals in Italy and Europe.

Those who pass the national competition will have the opportunity to train for free at the Scuola Superiore Sant’Anna, an institution that ranks first nationally out of 18 universities surveyed and nineteenth in the world (out of 963 universities), according to THE – Young University Rankings 2023. The deadline for submitting an application to participate in the competition is set at 12pm on 29 July 2024 for Ordinary Level I and Single Cycle Courses, and at 12pm on 18 June 2024 for Ordinary Level II Courses.

When you can access the School

From this year the possibilities of entering the Sant’Anna School have expanded: in the first year of the ordinary first level and single cycle courses in the year of obtaining the high school diploma, or in the first year of the ordinary second level courses at the end of a three-year degree course.

The level I competition: who can participate and the competition tests

For the admission competition for the first year of ordinary first level or single cycle courses, 60 places are available, divided as follows: 29 places for the Academic Class of Social Sciences (which includes three competition areas: Economic and Management Sciences, politics, legal sciences); 31 places for the Academic Class of Experimental and Applied Sciences (which includes three competition areas: Agricultural Sciences and Plant Biotechnology, Industrial and Information Engineering, Medicine).

The competition takes place in three phases: the first coincides with the pre-selections, which are carried out through the TOLC test (with the exception of Medicine, for which it is possible to register and access the competition directly), provided by the Interuniversity Consortium Sistemi Integrati for the ‘Access (CISIA) also in online mode (TOLC@HOME). Based on the results achieved in the test, the candidates will be admitted to the written tests, i.e. the second phase, scheduled in Pisa on 28 and 29 August for Engineering, on 29 and 30 August for Agricultural Sciences and for Medicine, on 2 and 3 September for Social Sciences (for the three Social Sciences competition areas, the written and oral tests are the same).

Those who pass the written tests will be admitted to the oral tests, the third phase, scheduled in Pisa in September.

The second level competition: who can participate

For the 2024-2025 academic year, Scuola Sant’Anna has completely revised the methods of access to the Ordinary Level II Courses, increasing the number of places available and the training offer with 6 competitive areas and 25 master’s degree courses. The 18 places in the competition are divided as follows: 10 places for the Academic Class of Social Sciences (4 places for the competition areas of Economic and Management Sciences; 2 places for Data Sciences; 4 places for Political Sciences); 8 places for the Academic Class of Experimental and Applied Sciences (4 places for Agricultural Sciences and Plant Biotechnology; 4 places for Industrial and Information Engineering). Reserved places are foreseen for the master’s degree courses activated by the School in agreement with the University of Pisa (Master’s Degrees in Economics LM-56, in Bionic Engineering LM-21 and in Molecular Biotechnology LM-8) and the University of Trento (Master’s Degree in Innovation Management LM-77).

Admission is reserved for graduates and undergraduates, i.e. those who possess a qualification that gives access to the Master’s Degree Courses obtained at an Italian or foreign university, or who expect to obtain it by 31 December 2024 and who have completed the degree course in no more than 4 years with a weighted average in university exams equal to at least 27/30 or equivalent evaluation in the case of a qualification obtained abroad. The competition is divided into an evaluation of qualifications and an exam which includes an interview to be carried out in person in Pisa or remotely, in the month of July.

What does it mean to become a student of Scuola Sant’Anna

The students of the ordinary courses carry out a study path parallel and complementary to the Bachelor’s/Master’s Degree courses of the University of Pisa and other affiliated universities such as the University of Florence and the University of Trento in one of the disciplinary sectors offered from the Scuola Superiore Sant’Anna (Economics, Law, Political Sciences, Engineering, Medicine, Agricultural Sciences and Biotechnology). At the School, students reside on the campus where they benefit from free board and lodging, attend supplementary courses, seminars and language courses, participate in research activities carried out in the laboratories while respecting rigorous educational obligations and have the opportunity to carry out learning experiences. study and research abroad and complete their training with internships in Italian and foreign companies and public bodies.

Living at Sant’Anna also means having access to numerous leisure services. The Scuola Superiore Sant’Anna has two gyms, a music room with musical instruments and numerous recreational rooms, to offer a complete collegiate experience, based on exchange and interdisciplinarity.

The School issues the Level II Diploma and the Licentiate Diploma to students who complete their studies in compliance with the educational obligations, which is equivalent to a Level II university master’s degree.

Admission to the School does not require the payment of enrollment fees and attendance of the Ordinary Courses is free. For the duration of the study cycle, students stay free of charge in the residential facilities made available by the School and take advantage of the canteen service.

To confirm the particular attention to merit and social mobility, the Scuola Superiore Sant’Anna contributes, on the basis of the ISEE, to the reimbursement of accommodation and travel expenses incurred by participants who reach Pisa to take the written and oral tests. Furthermore, reimbursement of the registration costs for the TOLC test incurred by the candidates of the first level competition is also foreseen.
