AstraZeneca admits: “The Covid vaccine can cause thrombosis syndrome” millionaire compensation at stake

AstraZeneca, the pharmaceutical giant, has admitted for the first time that its Covid vaccine may cause a rare side effect known as thrombosis with thrombocytopenia syndrome (TTS).

This admission, made in court in the UK, could trigger a series of million-dollar compensation claims from victims and families involved.

The admission by AstraZeneca came following an intense legal battle involving fifty-one cases filed in the British High Court. Documents presented in court revealed that the vaccine, developed in collaboration with the University of Oxford, could be associated with cases of death and serious injury.

The vaccine produced according to studies conducted during the pandemic was found to be 60 to 80% effective in protecting against coronavirus.

One of the most emblematic cases was that of Jamie Scott, a father of two, who suffered a permanent brain injury due to a blood clot and a brain hemorrhage after receiving the vaccine. This led to significant loss of function and his inability to work.

AstraZeneca stressed that the causal mechanism underlying TTS is not yet fully understood, but accepted that there are correlations between its vaccine and this rare side effect. The company also said that TTS can occur even in the absence of its vaccine or any other vaccine, and that causality in each case will be tested by experts.

This admission could have a significant impact on vaccination policies and public perception of vaccines, especially considering that the British government had pledged to legally support AstraZeneca in its legal costs. With millions in compensation at stake and an ongoing debate about the effectiveness and safety of vaccines, this news is destined to remain at the center of public attention for a long time.
