A record of the innovations introduced in 1978 to make known the latest issues of the theme… “We continued with the supplement files trying to make this «chronicle» increasingly rich in news and illustrations. After years of this work we found ourselves with a very substantial filing cabinet which now allows us to create a catalogue, which however has no pretensions to completeness and perfection”.
It was 1992 when Umberto Savoia presented the “Universal Literature” repertoire. Because the sector has always been his passion, so much so that he is responsible for the specialized group, one of the longest-standing, belonging to the Italian Thematic Philately Centre. He was also vice-president of the latter, as well as leading the “Isabella Morra” cultural philatelic association. For the Federation of Italian Philatelic Societies, which had included his name in the Presidents’ Honor Roll, he was a national juror for the youth sector and in the thematic sector.
He collaborated on the “Dante Project – The Divine Comedy through thematic philately” and on the books “Giovannino Guareschi – A «candid» pencil” and “In the footsteps of the little prince”.
He disappeared suddenly last night. He was eighty-six years old, having been born on 23 September 1937. The funeral will take place tomorrow at 11.30 am at the church dedicated to San Giovanni Bosco, located in the square of the same name in Potenza.
