There Cataloniaa Spanish region hit by a long emergency due to the Drought, yesterday recorded the wettest day since November 23, 2021, according to the Catalan Meteorological Service. The rains were particularly intense in one of the areas most affected by the lack of rainfall in recent months, namely that of Lower Llobregat, with accumulations exceeding 100 mm. The rains of the last few hours have brought a slight relief to the areas most affected by the drought, even if the situation remains critical: the water reserves in the internal basins of Catalonia, those most affected in the region, are just above 18%, after having dropped to to 14% at the beginning of March. It will be necessary to evaluate the positive impact of the latest rainfall (which is expected to continue at least until Thursday, although not uniformly), but in the meantime restrictive measures on water consumption remain in force in dozens of municipalities, including Barcelona. These measures include bans on washing vehicles and streets, watering gardens, activating ornamental fountains and filling private swimming pools, as well as some agricultural and industrial activities.
