Correggio, car on fire in via Circondaria

Correggio (Reggio Emilia), 30 April 2024 – Firefighters engaged with two teams – from Reggio and Carpi – to put out the fire that broke out on a Ford Focus carwhich caught fire while in gear Via Circondaria, in the center of Correggio, near the Piazzale 2 Agosto car park. In traffic, the man driving heard what sounded like an explosion and a few moments later the first flames. He managed to stop on the side of the road, and then get out of the car to save himself. The police officers were passing by local police, immediately intervened to block traffic and make the area safe, also because the car was powered by LPG and a possible explosion was feared. Which, fortunately, did not occur. The causes of the fire are accidental and there are no consequences for people. Inevitable, however, is the inconvenience to traffic, with the local police officers Reggio Emilia plain who had to close traffic, diverting vehicles onto alternative routes to and from the historic centre. The firefighters have made safe the vehicle, awaiting removal. At that point traffic on Via Circondaria returned to normal.
