A complete work dedicated to the regional flora, the result of over 15 years of research and commitment

On Saturday 4 May 2024, Moggio Udinese is preparing to host an event of great interest for nature and botany enthusiasts.

After over 15 years of dedication and research, the book will be presented “Flora of Friuli Venezia Giulia. Critical and diachronic repertoire and chorological atlas“, a complete work dedicated entirely to the flora of the region.

Edited by a team of experts composed of Fabrizio Martini, Gianfranco Bertani, Francesco Boscutti, Adriano Bruna, Antonino Danelutto, Roberto Pavan and Claudio Peruzovich, the book represents a significant testimony to the rich biodiversity of Friuli Venezia Giulia, placing it among the excellences at European level .

The volume, of a strictly scientific nature, offers a fundamental update in the panorama of regional botanical research.

Inside, an updated list of over 3000 plants present in the area, accompanied by detailed distribution maps. In addition to exploring the vegetal richness of the region, the text highlights the importance of preserving the local flora, highlighting its intrinsic values ​​and the practical benefits that derive from it.

The meeting will see the participation of Valentino Casolo, researcher from the University of Udine, who will give a brief introduction on the scientific value of the publication.

Fabrizio Martini, retired researcher and professor of evolutionary botany at the Department of Life Sciences of the University of Trieste, and Francesco Boscutti, researcher at the University of Udine, will present the contents of the book and the great work done for its creation , supported by a series of images.

The event, organized in collaboration with the municipality of Moggio Udinese and the local Pro Loco, marks the closing of the literary review “Among the pages of nature: the Julian Alps Biosphere Reserve hosts books and their authors”, organized by the Natural Park of Prealpi Giulie, which achieved considerable success with the public.

The presentation of the book will take place in the Treu auditorium.
