New life for the Vernato meeting center in Biella: it will be managed by a temporary association made up of the “Alpini Association – Vernato elderly meeting center – Thes carnival committee”. Objective: to promote and develop aggregative activities within the neighborhood, through the organization of social, cultural and recreational events, which involve the population, not only in the “elderly” age group, but also young people and adults.
The Municipality’s initial idea was to merge the center in via Ivrea with that in via Delleani currently managed on an experimental basis by a cooperative. However, its users immediately expressed to the administration the opportunity to maintain the current management methods, carried out by the entities that will officially join at this point (Alpini Association – Vernato elderly meeting center – Thes carnival committee), in their opinion more functional to the needs of the type of visitors, and also to the need to maintain the use of the premises also for other associations that have had the opportunity to locate their headquarters there over time.
And so it is that the Municipality, through a council resolution, has agreed that it will be managed by an ATS made up of the “Alpini Association – Vernato elderly meeting center – Thes carnival committee”, which will have its own regulations in the coming months.
According to the Municipality, the proposal received represents a valid opportunity “to resolve the requests of the interested parties and the needs of the administration in the medium term, while waiting to fully verify the outcome of the experimentation of the new management of the Center in via Delleani and to identify alternative solutions for the location of the associations’ headquarters”. And only by the deadline of 12.31.2025, the Administration will evaluate any needs or opportunities for different management methods of the Senior Center. Until then the center will in any case have to account for its activity which will be managed in the form of co-planning with the municipality.
However, the Piazzo, San Paolo and Pavignano centers have currently been decommissioned.
