Filicudi, arson: boat with 150 horsepower engine destroyed during the night. Truck, crane and trolley damaged. Take a snapshot of the police investigations. Reactions on the web

The quiet Filicudi was shocked during the night by an arson attack on a 10 meter boat belonging to the owner of a nautical rental.
The wooden boat “Aurora”, by Stefano Cappadona, was literally disintegrated by fire. Like the 150 horsepower engine. She was positioned on a truck which was damaged, as were the crane and the trolley.

It happened on the road near the seaside village of Pecorini. Moments of fear due to the high flames that rose up and which, together with the surrounding brushwood, could also cause further damage.

The island was without firefighters and when the alarm was raised, the islanders who intervened took action, but little could be done to save what could be saved. The damage is extensive. We are talking about over 60 thousand euros. The police were informed and they started investigations. The owner will also file a complaint with the military personnel.

REACTIONS ON THE WEB

Annuzza Cappadona Shame on a wonderful island these things happen..!

Anna Scalfati (Rai Journalist) Once upon a time there was a beautiful community and we celebrated with families and we loved each other. Except for a few which have always been poisonous. Over the last 15 years there has been a wild rush for money without building a healthy economy. We literally knelt before the money. When I arrived there was dignity, speech and friendship. This is why I fell in love with Filicudi. Paradise Lost.

Annuzza Cappadona Once upon a time, things were resolved in the churchyard. Now you are right everyone in the race for money. If there is any disagreement they take criminal actions. And it’s easy to use a little petrol, a lighter and everything blows up and this damages the image of this wonderful island. It is said that he who wounds by the sword perishes by the sword. One day you can turn against…

Immacolata Lopes Ugly people, it’s wickedness, we should even be scared of staying at home at night

Pina Costa What a shame. Envious people

Annalisa Bonica How disgusting

Massimo Lopes These things still exist

Tonino Cappadona They are criminals

Silvana Bonica Damn rabble

Floriana Incredible I’m sorry

Maria Beatrice Bonica It makes you shudder and reflect… Filicudi is an island with less than 200 inhabitants, where collaborative work could be done to improve the economy and management of the island. Unfortunately, however, humanity sins of pure selfishness with the race to crush others, we concentrate on judging, persisting and affecting the citizen next door. Filicudi is a reality outside of normality where everyone sees the birth, growth and development of the various generations. We have the opportunity to live there in a profound way, which is not possible in big cities.

We have privileges that cannot be imagined but as truly ignorant people we are focused on grasping only selfishness, envy and greed. The island has IGNORANCE as its heart without the curiosity to grow and improve. If each of us worked to improve ourselves and by recognizing our mistakes we could have the tools to interrupt the cycle… A cycle generated by pure IGNORANCE…. Ignorance of these people who, in addition to underestimating the sacrifices of the owner of the vehicle they thought well of putting themselves, children, sisters, brothers, parents, children and the elderly at risk if the flames were not limited to just burning the targeted vehicle…. I strongly recommend that we examine our consciences, recognize our mistakes and improve ourselves…

Otherwise the island will have nothing but considerable deterioration… As a young person I hope that my generations and those to come look at the past, present and future by working on ourselves to clearly and definitively interrupt this sick cycle that now persists on the island…

Enrico Cappadona Unfortunately nature does this by making headless and cuda available to vandals. These people will see everything dark around them…

Angela Foti How sad

Maria Grazia Virgona What happened should make those who did it reflect. Evil leads to nothing, they don’t know shame, in their minds only stupidity. Going back in time doesn’t have to happen to find out who did it. After all, there are few…

Maria Grazia Bonica You are right Anna. There was and is a wild race for money. A race so fast that it overwhelms everything. Respect, dignity, brotherhood, solidarity, love for the territory. When I read the news, I didn’t want to believe it. I felt like a punch in the stomach. For years now we have heard from time to time that some scoundrel has committed an act of vandalism. The hanging cats, the motorbike room burned down in Pecorini, the boat made to disappear from poor Paola, the stolen millstones, the tampering with the aqueduct, the clockwork summer fires… So many facts that have changed the face of the island. But what is surprising are the men who do not dare to speak because they fear retaliation at work, for their activities. The “decent” men who should rebel and instead “are afraid” and “are silent” and stand by and watch this unlivable state of affairs. Today is just the tip of the iceberg and I am pleased that people have found the courage to write and stigmatize what happened. And I’m pleased, even more, that women are doing it. Well, Maria Beatrice, take up the pen to express your indignation.
Well Annuzza and Silvana. It’s done like this. No man who writes, who speaks, who is seriously indignant.
A “terrible silence.” Who will have to defend this island from these infamous acts? Who will have to rebel against the state of subjection that exists and that everyone talks about, but in silence?? Becoming aware is the first step. A small community like ours cannot and must not tolerate such criminal acts. It doesn’t belong to us and we ask for their firm condemnation. We trust in the investigative activity of the military present on the island. And from today, eyes open to everything. Otherwise the Filicudi that we love is over. They will continue to “wreak havoc” to accumulate that vile money that is blinding them…

Antoegiusy Monachino An island as beautiful as all the islands, why do this damage? I don’t really understand. They don’t understand crazy things and then islanders. The most beautiful islands in the world in our opinion

Antonella Starvaggi I’m very sorry

Carlo Luigi I’m very sorry. I hope everyone works together to find the culprits

Lucia Elia Filicudi is wonderful for her nature, for the rest it’s a shame, even we who have houses have suffered all sorts of harassment, cheating, abuse. We had to defend ourselves by spending money on lawyers and not fully enjoy our very expensive holidays. We have been in Filicudi for 40 years and nothing has changed.!!! Maybe it’s time to leave.

ebastiano Felis Stupidity or madness. These ignoble gestures which can cause enormous damage cannot be explained.

Josie Pinzone I’m very sorry… bad news

Angelica Bonica What a terrible thing… My heart aches, in general, especially for our island… But what people have we become… Now even the acts of vandalism… but you put one hand on your heart and one on your conscience , that sooner or later we will all end up there! Shame

Francesco Delfino, Stefano you have all my solidarity, the boat will be bought back don’t worry.
A hug

Rosolino Vallone They are delinquents
