Macabre discovery last Sunday afternoon, in a wooded area near via Vallescura, the road that climbs towards the hills from viale Aldini, in the San Mamolo area. Two boys, who had gone to the area on Saturday for a walk, had noticed a skull and presumably human bones near some fallen tree trunks. The alarm was raised by the mother of one of the two young people who, hearing her son’s stories, immediately alerted the police.

The officers intervened on site with two patrol cars together with the firefighters, who cleared the area of brushwood, and the medical examiner who carried out the initial investigations. Specifically, we are talking about thirteen parts of a human skeleton, near which a scarf was also found and, about ten meters further on, a trekking shoe. A mystery on which the police are now working, who have started investigations to try to understand who the remains belong to: according to an initial analysis, it could be a middle-aged man, no more than 50 years old, whose death would be occurred in a period prior to the last three years.

Meanwhile, investigators have spoken to both some residents of the area and the owners of a facility specializing in psychiatric and nervous system diseases present near the area where the remains were found. At the moment, however, there is no suspicion as to who the person in question could be and the elements collected so far have not been useful for identification. The agents are therefore pursuing all leads to shed light on the matter.

In the meantime, the area where the macabre discovery occurred has been fenced off to avoid contamination of the scene. The remains, however, were subjected to seizure and will subsequently be transferred to the body observation depot of the Certosa.

The via Vallescura detective story arrives a few months after the discovery of Enrico Viggi’s body in an inaccessible point along the route that follows the Meloncello stream. Even in that case the body of the forty-seven year old resident of Barca, already in an advanced state of decomposition, was noticed by a couple of boys who were walking in the hills. It was the two who raised the alarm. Viggi, employed as a warehouse worker in a sanitation services company in Zola Predosa, disappeared from Bologna at the beginning of February: people reported his disappearance, also launching an appeal on social media and on the Rai 3 program ‘Chi l’ha visto ‘, it was his brother Fabio.
