The first edition of Strait Cup ends with the victory of Unime SSD: in the Final Four played in the PalaSport Polivalente dell’Annunziata in Messina, the coaching team Fabio Marinaro he won in the semi-final by a narrow margin Catanzaro (64-55) and in the final he extended his lead It makes only in the second half (39-50). After the first phase held in Reggio Calabria, the FIP Sicily Regional Committee organized the final step of this new competition, designed together with FIP Calabria to promote women’s basketball, after the conclusion of the respective regional Serie C championships.

It was played on Saturday 27 and Sunday 28 April: in the semi-final, Rende won over PGS Sales by 63-41, while the Messina team surpassed the Catanzaro Basketball Center. In the final, the Catanzaro team won 76-47 over the Catania team, while the heated final was then played in front of an almost full grandstand. The two teams were balanced for twenty minutes with Unime ahead in the first ten minutes and Bim Bum Basket making a comeback in the second quarter. The turning point was the expulsion of coach DeMarco for a technical double: from that moment on, the hosts found the drive to grab the victory.

A cup was awarded to each of the four finalists; in the final awards ceremony, medals were also awarded to the runners-up in Serie C (the PGS Sales), to the female C and U17 champions and to the U19 vice champions (always the Unime girls).
