Serious road accident this afternoon on the A10 Genoa-Ventimiglia motorway between Sanremo and Taggia in the direction of the Ligurian capital.

According to initial information, it seems that a heavy vehicle overturned and ended up hitting a car, crushing it, for reasons that are still being ascertained. A second truck was also marginally involved. The 118 medical staff, some ambulances and the fire brigade are responding to the scene. Unfortunately, the deaths of two male passengers in the car have been confirmed.

Two were seriously injured, a man and a woman whose legs were amputated in the first and an arm in the second. They were taken to the ‘Santa Corona’ in Pietra Ligure, obviously in maximum severity red code. Two more minor injuries were taken to Sanremo hospital under code yellow.

Traffic towards Genoa is currently blocked and the queue has already reached four kilometres. The exit at Ventimiglia is mandatory for heavy vehicles and at Sanremo for others.

It cannot therefore be ruled out that, in the short term, traffic may significantly increase in urban centers due to vehicle access from the Aurelia motorway. More details later.
