The competition in Dresden for boys and girls did not get off to a good start. An immediate 5th place for Giorgia De Sanctis, who reached 353.95 points in the 1 meter final; the race, which immediately took on a very high level, where Canadian Lilla Stewart won with 358.70 points. While from the 3 meter springboard the Italian girls Viola Bellato and Marianna Cannone came in eighth and 9th place. In a race of certainly high competitive level.

The competition for young Italians gained momentum and strength with the Men’s Synchro from the 3 meter springboard, where Valerio Mosca and Matteo Santoro coached by Alice Palmieri of the Società Fratelli Marconi won the gold medal with 299.19 points. Perfect race, Swiss synchronism to reset the clocks. But the “jewel” for this Meeting was the long-awaited competition from the 10 meter category B platform, enhanced by the splendid performance of one of the youngest divers (14 years old) Davide Barberi from Formello (Rome), platform athlete, from Carlo Dibiasi’s team and trained by Emiliano Boldacchini, who took first place in the most awaited race, gold medal with 407.75 points.

Davide Barberi, in a crescendo of scores, right from the second dive, finishing with a final sensational dive that drew applause and a stand ovation from the large audience for his “grouped triple and half back somersault” with points 80,85, 8 .00 and 8.50.

The races ended on Sunday afternoon with the semi-final and final of the “A” 10 meter platform category. With the bronze medal going to the very talented Simone Conte who concluded his performance with 506.05 points. Raffaele Pelligro followed, who placed third in the semi-final and slipped to sixth place in the final.

The very young youth champion of the European Meeting Davide Barberi was very excited. But even more excited were Emiliano Boldacchini, Laura Schermi and Klaus Dibiasi for a great little athlete who demonstrated will, strength, a spirit of revenge but above all modesty.
