Porto Sant’Elpidio (Fermo), 29 April 2024 – They surprised him while was illegally transporting a very dangerous asphyxiating gas. The discovery was made by the men of highway police who subjected the vehicle and the goods to administrative detention and triggered a fine of 5000 euros. The operation began in recent days, during a road surveillance service along theA/14 motorway. It was just after 2.30 pm when a patrol from the subsection of the Porto San Giorgio traffic police, at the height of the Porto Sant’ Elpidio toll booth, ordered a truck with a Bulgarian registration plate to stop for a normal routine check. Then, however, what you don’t expect. The specialty agents, during the document check, ascertained that the driver was carrying out a transport of cylinders containing a total of approximately 1,500 kilograms of R427A refrigerant gas, classified as an extremely dangerous commodity because, in the event of a leak, it transforms into a powerful asphyxiating gas.
The traffic police officers then ascertained that the driver of the vehicle had never obtained the ADR professional training certificate, necessary to acquire the necessary competence to safe transport of dangerous goods. It also emerged that the middle with which he was carrying out a transport on behalf of a third party from Bulgaria to Italy was not authorized to carry out international transport because it does not have the required community license. After the ritual operations and further checks, the truck and the goods were then subjected to administrative detention, while the driver was subjected to an administrative fine of a total sum of 5,000 euros.
