One year after the agenda on via Allende voted by the city council, Vittoria Briccarello, Mauro Bosia (United we can) and Mario Malandrone (Ambiente Asti), with a note they want to shine a spotlight on the housing emergency.

“It has been 15 years now that the associations have reported the resource in via Allende and many more have passed since its non-use – they write -. A glimmer of hope was seen in putting down on paper the commitment to conclude the matter in an agenda voted in the Municipality a year ago. But from that day on, what steps will be taken to return the building to the community and its housing problem?

According to the councilors, no progress has been made”As in the previous six years, an attempt began and an interlocution instead in the previous 5 years. So is it a question of impossibility or of not putting the housing issue first? There are practically 0 new public housing units recovered or built in the last 6 years, there has always been talk of the buildings in via Ungaretti but even in that case the planning on the Pinqua was insufficient and the project was not financed”.

“Allende Street – conclude the councilors – it deserves the same commitment that is put into institutional visits, travel, negotiations for less useful paths. The housing emergency is knocking on the doors of the municipality, with problems of arrears, with the impoverishment of the population and with growing evictions in the city. But it doesn’t seem to be a priority. The occupations were blamed, but through them 6 families had a roof over their heads for 10 years. The operators and the social sector of the Municipality have to face a growing housing emergency with zero resources. From a political point of view, the current Municipal Administration, however, is sleeping soundly on the matter and on housing resources.”
