Lory Del Santo she was a guest of Mara Venier to ‘Sunday In’ and he spoke among other things about the tragic death of the son Lorenshe had with a man whose name she never mentioned.
The boy just took his own life 19 years old in 2018. He passed away while he was in the United States, where he had moved.
Only later was it discovered that he was suffering from anhedoniaa mental disorder which results in the inability to experience pleasure.
Speaking with Venier, the 65-year-old with eyes bathed in emotion explained: “Some terrifying things have happened to me. It’s terrible. The image is of me lying on the ground”.
“Because what I did in the beginning was like this. I couldn’t stand so I was lying on the floor there for hours and that was it. Then I thought: ‘What do I do, lie down all my life? No’. End. I got up”he added.
“When you get up once, you are able to get up again”he however underlined.
Lory, who had already experienced the mourning of the death of her son in 1991 Conorwho tragically fell from a New York skyscraper at the age of 4 and a half, stressed that her family was never close to her.
“In all my vicissitudes the family has never been there. But that’s okay, because if these people don’t understand you it’s better if they don’t speak because if they speak they’ll get the word wrong and you they hurt even more”he said.
She hadn’t noticed Loren’s illness, even though there had been some signs: “They were strange problems that I identified as personality characteristics”.
“For example, I don’t mind being alone, thinking, I don’t need to always be with people, to say everything about myself. He was a bit of a guy solitarybut he was a wonderful person, of absolute intelligence, he had done all the exams at school, he was suitable for sport…”he said.
“I told myself, no one ever suggested to me that he might have a problem, not even at school. I said: ‘But it’s strange that he does this, he doesn’t do this’. She was just too still.”has continued.
“The only consolation is that when something is irreversible, you just have to resign yourself, because there is no medicine, nothing”he has declared.
THE fathers of her children – Lory also has Devin, whom she had 32 years ago with Silvio Sardi – have practically never been there: “They weren’t there… they disappear instantly, I don’t know, you have to hammer the nails into their feet to keep them. I thought that children are the most beautiful thing a person can have and that they are the only thing that a father and a mother will love forever”.
“It’s not true, these people tell you ‘hi, I don’t want to have responsibilities’”he said.
However, Lory cannot blame herself for Loren’s tragic end: “I’ve thought of them all if I could do something. But when the problem is not evident there are no solutions”.
