«I gave up many things for dance, even in love»

From Mara Venierin the episode of Sunday In of the April 28, Roberto Bolle presented the evening event Long live the Dance on the occasion of International Dance Day.

«It can be loved by everyone – explained the dancer -. We bring dance to the streets and try to create this dialogue between all people and the art form.”

The love of dance

«I brought dance among the people – explained Bolle -.

I started several years ago because I wanted to be able to choose my own repertoire. I had great fame which allowed me to do many things. I wanted to do something different and I didn’t want to limit my career and just play a dancer in the theater. I took a risk but I don’t regret it, in fact it’s still stimulating today.”

The role of family and how his career began

The dancer explained that he managed to chase his dream of becoming a dancer also thanks to the support of his family. «I was only six years old when my mother took me to a renowned dance school in Milan – he added -. I started loving dance at 4 years old. I had classical and modern references. The first years were difficult and I had moments of failure. I missed the daily affection. I danced in front of the Pope and the Queen and it was an absurd emotion. Dance is a school of life and has profoundly changed my character.”

The sacrifices, however, are many. «If I hadn’t followed the path of dance with this dedication I would be a different person – he concluded -. I gave up many things for dance. I also limited love escapes, I admit. I’ll make up for it though.”
