Macerata, 29 April 2024 – “Exam passed in the first two days of work, now comes another one try reopening schools”. The first of the eight unusable buildings has been demolished, today will be an extremely delicate day for the largest post-earthquake reconstruction site, the one in via Pantaleoni in Macerata. The bulldozers have been at work since Saturday and worked – albeit with some breaks for technical reasons – throughout yesterday as well, completing the demolition of the first building, the one at number 111. “For the guy of wall structures in question – he explains Silvano Iommi, councilor for urban planning –, you also have to proceed with a certain slowness because these are fragile buildings and a considerable amount of dust is raised. However, last night the condominium at number 111 was completed and between today and tomorrow we will proceed with the one at number 109. It is a complex operation in a complex area, where precautions must be taken. However the timetable has been respected and the demolition should be completed on 20/21 May. Then we will move on to the road support works. For now the exam has been passed, also thanks to great mobilization of means and men to ensure that the neighborhood continues to live despite having to deal with inconveniences due to noise and dust. Tomorrow (today, ed.) there will be a suspension of work on the entry and exit of children from school, but we have already moved a few dozen meters away from the school complex. We are confident and satisfied with how things are progressing.”
Along the same lines the councilor for public works Andrea Marchiori, who followed the operations on the construction site for long stretches of the day yesterday. “The works are progressing well, despite the fact that this (yesterday, ed.) morning there was a small stop because the “water-shooting” cannon had had a reduction in power. However, they started again immediately and the demolition of the first condominium is practically completed. Tomorrow (today, ed.) will be one critical day because schools start again, but the first two days of work were an excellent test and tomorrow (today, ed.) we will be ready to face the situation in the best possible way. The exam was passed with flying colors with a joint effort between public and private that worked perfectly. The local police also did a good job of preparation.”
